I love the shape of this reversible Japanese Knot Bag! I made mine out of some
upholstery fabric I rescued from an antique store (kits available) but it would look terrific
in almost any kind of fabric.
The finished bag is about 20” tall at its tallest point (open, not closed) and about 13”
wide.
Material Requirements:
- Yardage requirements vary depending on if the fabric has a directional print.
- For Solids or Prints that run Selvedge to Selvedge: 1/2 yard of 2 fabrics.
- For Prints that run Parallel to the Selvedge: 2/3 yard of 2 fabrics.
- Fat quarters will work for non-directional prints.
- Coordinating or Neutral Sewing Thread
- Clips or Pins
- Marking Chalk or Pen
- Your Sewing Machine in Good working order
- Scissors
If you want to bring your own fabric, the pattern fee is $6.00. It is printed on 18” x 24”
paper, no taping required!
If you want the same vintage fabrics I used, while supplies last, you can purchase a kit
for a discounted price of $25 (they are $35 online). The kit contains enough fabric for
the bag in the print/solid as shown, the full sheet pattern, and printed instructions. The
green/cream fabric is a vintage silk or rayon and cotton jacquard, the brown lining is a
lovely vintage taffeta with gorgeous depth of color because the warp and weft threads
are slightly different colors.
