Designer Genna Blackburn was inspired by her childhood memories of searching for caterpillars and picking wildflowers, and created her new fabric collection, Bugs & Butterflies. Genna Blackburn is a surface designer and illustrator in Detroit, Michigan. Inspired by her love of plants and animals, (especially her pets who make regular appearances in her illustrations), her work is a playful exploration of shape and color stemming from her background as a graphic designer.
Genna received her BFA in Graphic Design in 2006 and worked at a design studio until 2014 when she took the leap to work for herself. While she designs for a variety of projects including stationery and art, repeating patterns are one of her favorite things to create because their puzzle-like nature provides a challenge that is very satisfying to see come together.
